Similar to the top-rated TV show, American Outback’s Amazing Race is a race against time with a competitive team element. Teams will compete head to head, pitting their wits against each other to be crowned “The Amazing Race Champions”! We have custom designed courses available in numerous areas including San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, Palm Springs, San Francisco, San Jose, Chicago, New York, Seattle and more, with groups of up to 1000 and more handled with ease.

Participants will follow a custom designed course where the knowledge and skills of their team will be tested to the max. The event focuses on communication, problem solving, strategy and a real need to be creative. It is a great way for individuals to work as a team and to get to know each others strengths. We require up to 4 hours with your group with the actual race lasting up to 3 hours, although this is flexible. All activities, transportation and entrance fees, etc. are included as part of the race.

How The Concept Works:

American Outback’s Amazing Race consists of a series of clues to get from one checkpoint to another. Along the way teams will encounter Route Markers, Road Blocks and Detours where certain challenges and activities have to be completed by at least one member of the team in order for them to continue. Written or photographic clues must be retrieved from each checkpoint lock box once the correct combination has been found.

Route Markers mark the location of additional route information. Road Blocks outline a specific task one person on each team must complete before moving on. Detours give a choice of 2 tasks your entire team must complete before moving on.

The group will be split into 2 main teams (eg. Red Team & Yellow Team), with each main team split into mini-teams of 3-4 people each. Mini-teams of 3-4 will work well in terms of the group dynamic (decision-making, communication, highlighting individual’s strengths) and the group characteristics (male-female ratio, age, fitness and ability level). However, with very large groups we will often recommend larger mini-team sizes.

We are flexible where the event starts. We have a pre-race orientation to explain the rules of the race, provide emergency numbers, coloured vests, envelopes, initial clues, etc. After the last team has finished we calculate the winning teams so that medals for the fastest mini-team and trophy for the fastest overall team can be awarded. We recommend the race finishes at a bar/restaurant for drinks, post-race storytelling and medal presentation.
